Excellent Workplaces – The Approach
Statista and TIME Magazine present the Excellent Workplace rating, a comprehensive benchmarking system for organizations across the globe. Grounded in data and best practices, companies are evaluated along the employee lifecycle and the latest scientific frameworks on employee motivation.
Companies submit their data through a detailed HR audit as well as an optional employee survey. The submitted data is thoroughly validated and evaluated by our data experts here at Statista. Eligible companies receive the Excellent Workplace award and are featured on the Statista and TIME website.
Please note, since this is a new project, the official rating list will be published following the initial research phase.

Methodology Overview
Our methodology is grounded in the principles of modern motivational psychology (self-determination theory) and focuses on what truly drives people at work. It is built around three dimensions of human motivation: Autonomy, Competence and Relatedness.
To capture the depth and dynamics of the workplace, these dimensions are measured across 14 categories that span the entire employee lifecycle - from recruitment and onboarding to development, leadership, collaboration, and exit.
By aligning the principles of motivational psychology with the natural flow of the employee lifecycle, the methodology delivers targeted insights that help organizations understand where motivation thrives, and where it needs to be strengthened.

The experience of growth, mastery, and meaningful contribution.
Relatedness
The sense of belonging, connection, and mutual support.

Pre-registration portal & Order form
To participate in the Excellent Workplace Rating, pre-register via the button on the right. Once we've confirmed your eligibility, you will have the option to choose from three packages and enter the rating process.

Survey
Depending on your chosen package, you receive an invitation for the HR audit and optionally, the employee survey.

Data Analysis
Once all data is submitted, our analyst team will have a first look and arrange a validation call with you to ensure a correct understanding of your input. Following the data validation, our experts finalize the rating process.

Result & Award
If your results have passed the threshold, you will be recognized with the Excellent Workplace award by Statista and TIME. You will receive a ready to use media kit to display your achievement of excellence and will be featured on both Statista and TIME websites.
