Project Details
About the project
The eighth edition of Canada’s Best Employers for Company Culture 2025 is based on an independent survey of employees conducted via online access panels. KPIs of eligible companies were also considered.
Over 1,200 employers with 500 or more employees in Canada were identified for the survey. This was done through comprehensive desk research of numerous sources (industry associations, trade journals, economic research institutes, etc.) as well as the previous year’s list.
The final list highlights the top 200 Canadian employers for company culture, ranked using our scoring model and categorized into 24 industries.
Scoring
Identifying the best company cultures in Canada
Our scoring model is based on independently collected survey data from employees in Canada. This data is divided into several assessment dimensions, including KPIs.
Direct score
On a scale of 0 to 10, respondents indicated how likely they were to recommend their own employer to friends or family – with 0 being the least likely and 10 being the most.
Indirect score
Respondents indicated the industry they work in. Based on this, each respondent is shown a selection of employers who are active in the given sector. Respondents can then voluntarily recommend or advise against employers from the list.
Engagement
Indicators of objective and publicly available diversity information (e.g. existence of a management position responsible for diversity, proactive communication of diverse company culture, published annual CSR and/or Diversity Report) were taken into account. We researched these indicators for each company using publicly available company information.
Management
Based on extensive research, an index was built based on the share of women who fill top executive or board positions. We researched this data for each company using publicly available company information (Oct.-Dec. 2020). For around 10% of evaluated companies this data was not available/verifiable. Therefore, a mean score across all evaluated companies was used to not negatively affect companies without sufficient information.

01 Concept
For our employment projects, we evaluate and rank the world’s leading employers, highlighting organizations that excel in fostering positive work environments and sustainable growth. Our rankings help job seekers make informed career choices while providing companies with a benchmark to assess their standing in the global job market.
02 Data Collection
For data collection, our team of analysts creates detailed online questionnaires that ask survey participants about work-related topics. By working with leading online access panels worldwide, suitable participants are identified and surveyed independently of potentially awarded employer brands. Survey responses are then checked for quality and validity (interview length, variances, inconsistencies) and sorted accordingly.
03 Evaluation
To evaluate the data, we apply a scoring model that combines direct feedback on the participants’ own employers with indirect feedback on other employers within their professional fields.
04 Quality Assurance
For each potential award-winning employer, company information is researched and eligibility for the list is confirmed. This step serves as quality assurance and is presented as information in the publication.
